We have had a hard time getting over to water. We have watered every night - even if it is at 11:00 pm. Doug has been the workhorse for this garden. It's funny because I love having a garden. I love the planting and weeding (if there weren't lots of bees and grasshoppers!) but the harvesting is not my favorite (mostly because of the bees, grasshoppers, and when our fruits are half-eaten. Yuck!)
Our garden is pretty far away from our new apartment because it is next to our old apartment. You can see our house in the distance behind the barn. Yes...we live near lots and lots of very pretty horses. This also means we live with mice every spring. I won't even go there right now...but let's just say I've been kept awake this week with them running the walls. Ugh.
The garden has given us the opportunity to make some inexpensive baby food for E&S. I ended up buying these carrots because we didn't thin our's - so they are REALLY small. :) Isn't it so pretty? I am loving making their own baby food. We've cooked, pureed, and poured into ice cube trays:
Carrots ($2.50 made about 3 dozen feedings for both of them)
Squash (from our garden) 10 feedings for 'free'
Peaches (my friend Deanna gave me some from her tree - 4 dozen meals for them for free)
Pears ($9 worth of pears for about 6 dozen meals for both of them)
This is the book I've been using as a guide. My sister-in-law, Annette, gave it to me when the babies were born. I really like it. It is a little scatter-brained, but a wealth of information and recipes for even toddler snacks that are healthy and packed with nutrition. The author said that you can save 7x your money when you make your own baby food this way and the frozen ice cubes of food keep for 2 months. Pretty sweet!
I do love a good deal!

You go super mom! That is amazing you are fitting that all in with the babies. I have always loved making homemade baby food, and the biggest benefit you will discover is that they are better eaters in the long run because they it is so easy to translate this into what you prepare for your own meals as they transition to finger foods.
I'm so happy you had kids first, I will be coming to you left and right with questions for my own :) You are an amazing mother!!
