We were so excited to celebrate with Michelle and Ethan. Sydney seemed especially excited on Michelle's big day. They adore her. They knew that Ethan lived far away and that Michelle would be moving far away to join him.
They both had a great party at the "Celebration" (reception) the night before. We stayed and helped clean up and Ethan and Sydney were running around like crazy for an hour.
I was in charge of music for the Celebration and my parents were kind to perform. Ethan and Sydney were too nervous (and not excited) to sing the song we had been practicing for months, so we postponed it until the next day at the luncheon. We figured Michelle could actually enjoy it then!
Doug's neice, Erika, watched Ethan and Sydney while we attended the sealing ceremony at the Logan temple. I had a hot date. :-) It was a pretty emotional ceremony knowing how long Michelle had waited for this moment in her life. We felt so lucky to be a part of her day.
At the luncheon, we sang "Love is an Open Door" with Ethan and Sydney from the new movie, Frozen. When we originally had the idea, it seemed too perfect--a duet (boy/girl) from a movie they loved and it was about…love and getting married! Well, it proved to be quite the complicated song with a lot of syncopated lyrics. We ended up singing it with them and Doug and I struggled to learn the parts! Ethan and Sydney did great. I bet we had sung it a hundred times. Haha. A highlight was watching Sydney going table to table after we sang. When I told her to come sit down, I asked her what she was doing. She said, "I was just asking everyone how they liked our song mom." Oh, these two performers...
We also performed with the Marchant family. Doug and I took on a family musical number and I enlisted the help of my very talented Aunt Jennifer to write the lyrics. I told her a little about Michelle and Ethan and she did the rest! It was a huge hit. So fun. I didn't anticipate being asked to sing a majority of the solo parts. I had lost my voice just prior to the wedding, but managed to pull what little voice I had into the song. I was a little disappointed, but everyone loved it. We hung back and watched her drive off before loading up Ethan and Sydney and starting the drive home. What a fun day!
