Halloween 2013: Edelweiss

Oh boy. Halloween approached slowly at our house.  We had Syd's Gretel costume weeks ago and she was so excited to wear it.  Ethan's lederhosen was hard to purchase--spent more money than I wanted.  I swore Halloween costumes would never go over $5.  I lied.  To help defray cost, I stuck Lyla in Sydney's costume from 2010.  She looked great...and didn't like it one bit.

We stopped by Grandma's house to meet up with the Dansie cousins and take some photos and say "trick or treat" to Grandma.

Syd was in love with her costume.  They were determined to sing every Sound of Music song!

The cousins loved seeing each other in costume.

The only moment she smiled with the costume on.

Ethan belting out So Long Farewell.

We went Trick or Treating in our neighborhood (after Doug took them to the Merrill's house and eating some green Zucchini Cashew soup).  We sang at the first door--So Long Farewell--to their friend Tess and her family.  That was the last time.  Temperatures dropped and they were moving fast from door to door.  We made the mistake of not bringing their coats.

The next day at church, Tess' mom announced to the Relief Society that they were so lucky to have us come to their door.  I got some smiles and some dirty looks--all in fun.

The Halloween Monster came that night and we woke up this morning to two princess dresses for Ethan and Sydney.  Can you guess who was most excited?  We went to the dollar store and DI today to get a few things for a Soldier Christmas stocking project.  We picked up a crown for a prize, but Ethan convinced me he needed it.  Sydney's dress had included a choker and hair ribbon, so Ethan was disappointed that the picture on his dress included a crown...that was not included in the packaging.  Love this kid.
