When Sydney was just 6 months old, the pediatrician was concerned about her eyes looking crossed and sent us to a specialist. He said that Sydney would need glasses when she was 2 years old and to come back. I decided I didn't want to take on toddler glasses earlier than needed and opted to wait a bit. We made an appt in October for a specialist at Primary Children's and couldn't get in until December! I was shocked, but encouraged that the specialist was in demand.
Sydney has been looking forward to this for months. She has been saying "I need to go to the doctor, my eyes are hurting." I knew she thought pain was the reason you go to a doctor.
We did excellent and the doctor was fantastic with her. She sat in the 'princess chair' for her 'games' and both her and Ethan wore masks because they had coughs.
Ethan was bummed to not have as much attention from the doctor and they were kind to let him have a turn in the 'princess chair' for a few minutes. Doug was able to join us which proved to be necessary when the appointment lasted about 90 minutes with lots waiting involved.
They put some 3D glasses on her and had Sydney grab at things. It was too hilarious looking with the mask and glasses combined.
We were thrilled after the appointment when the doctor said her vision was fine and her eyes would continue to get better as far as looking crossed. I have said to myself several times over the past few years--maybe she will just grow out of this and her vision will be fine. We were to thrilled and felt so blessed.
