Farewell party

Deb and Kayla had stayed with our friends, the Nelsons, and were leaving the next day for their long trek back home.  We met up and went to ice cream while the men and kids went to a ward Christmas party to meet Santa.

Kayla was in heaven with her mondo serving of ice cream.  Huge servings are a part of an American vacation!

Tiffany had a strategy for this trip and bought ice creams for both her and Blake and packaged them up to take home. She said they eat them over the next several weeks.

A missionary from the branch in Nowra (where Deb and Kayla are from) sent a package through me to Kayla and Deb to bring home to his mum.  We opened it so they could pack it and found he had grabbed an acorn for his family.  We realized that customs would not allow it and so we took a photo of it for his family instead.  That acorn is in safe-keeping in my living room in the event the the Heagneys vacation to Salt Lake.

We had a great time and were sad to see them go.  Made me want to plan a trip to Australia with Doug though...

I heard all about meeting Santa after I returned and was honestly bummed I missed it.  They both sat on Santa's lap and said they wanted "toys" for Christmas.  Glad expectations are still low for Mr. Claus.  Santa gave them a candy and a very ugly tree ornament which found their way to the garbage can after a little time.  :-)  They keep saying that "Santa was at the church".
