Aloha Grandma!

We knew the day would come when we would say goodbye to Doug's mom (aka Grandma) but it seemed to come too quickly.  Ethan and Sydney adore her and have been asking for her regularly since she left.  They want to give her kisses goodnight even days after she left.

We woke up with big dreams of going to the opening day of the Billabong Pipe surf competition and I am so glad we did.  Ethan and Sydney wore their new shirts we purchased at the swap meet to bed and woke up looking so adorable.

It was amazing.  We saw the biggest waves I've ever seen in my life--approaching 20 ft.  Watching those surfers was amazing and scary.  In the 90 minutes we were there, 6 surfers broke their boards on the shallow reef.  Surfers wore helmets--defying death.

It came time for bed and to take Grandma to the airport.  We pulled out the sign we'd made to welcome her to Hawaii to say aloha again as she left for home.

We love you mom and Grandma.

Looks like you guys had a great time with both Michelle and Mom. And yeah for a getaway for just the two of you! Can't wait to hear more of your adventures when you get back. Enjoy your last few weeks!
