Today's update is another weight gain!
Ethan (with his cast--which we don't know how much it weighs) up to 2290 grams or 5 lbs and almost 1 oz.
Sydney is quite the gainer. She is up to 2130 grams or 4 lbs 11 oz.
Ethan is definitely excelling with his feedings. Sydney was sleepy for both the 1 pm and 7 pm feedings today. We're hopeful that she 'wakes up' before our meeting with Annie, the occupational therapist, Friday.
Ethan will have a new cast tomorrow. Dr. Faux will be coming to change it at 7 am tomorrow and Doug and I are going to be there to watch and ask questions. I found out that a co-worker of mine has a son who was born with a clubbed foot. He gave me a lot of tips today but here are a few memorable ones.
-Ethan will probably not share a crib with Sydney when he has the brace has a steel bar. He could beat her up a bit with it. He said they didn't even keep their son in a crib. (Here is a photo of what his brace will look like)
-Ethan won't be able to wear conventional sleepers, most likely. He will wear leather shoes that are pretty tight 23 hours a day in the beginning and then later just at night.
So, we're excited to ask Dr. Faux some questions tomorrow morning. We should be in bed already for the early morning...
Tonight was a fun time--Sydney and Ethan's nurse asked if we wanted to give the babies a bath. It's difficult to have someone else taking care of our babies every day...so it was fun to be the 'parents' for a bit.
When the doctor examined Sydney today, she discovered that she has an umbilical hernia. She said it will probably correct itself. It was fun to see them without tubes or monitors for a few minutes for bath time.
I got a cute shot of Ethan while I was holding him. He is getting so big! The doctor on call today, Mollie, even commented that they looked bigger since her shift last Thursday. The Neonatologists work 24 hour shifts at the hospital and can sleep in a room adjacent to the hospital. Their hair can have a 'bed head' look late at night.

Wow Heather! He is getting big. I guess that pep talk really worked... haha. Brynlee also has an umbilical hernia, my Dr. also assured me that it will correct itself. Yeah! I'm so excited to meet those little guys!
so cute! they are really getting big. sydney and i have an umbilical hernia in common... not sure mine will correct itself though! can't wait to see you soon!
When they change Ethan's cast they should weigh him without the cast and then immediately after putting on the cast so this time they can Know how much the cast weighs. Fun to be able to bathe the littles. I hope Sydney "wakes up" soon.
What an amazing journey you have had. I am addicted to the computer for the first time in my life. It has been wonderful to watch your little babies grow and develop in such a short amount of time. They are so darling. BIG HUGS from the Nevada Beckstrand's.
Wow! they are getting so big and they are so cute!!! How fun to finally be able to bathe them. I miss you Heather and love to keep up with your journey each day.

Well I guess Tiffany, Sydney and I have something in common. I have an umbilical hernia too. My doctor checked mine as I was laying on the operating table right after Carter came out. It is not bad at all and doesn't bother me for now. They are looking bigger. Love you guys.
Oh, I love the bath shots! I haven't seen Sydney's face very well but I d o think that Ethan looks a lot like you, Heather. They are so beautiful!
