Our Top Ten

Top 10 "Good News" Moments of the day:

#1: Both Ethan and Sydney are tolerating their feeds well enough to increase again.
#2: Ethan gained 40 grams. He is moving from 29 cc to 34 cc of milk.
#3: Sydney gained 10 grams. She is moving from 28 cc to 32 cc of milk.
#4: They both did excellent with the non-nutritive feed today.
#5: The doctor said Ethan may move to nutritive in the next day or two. That means that I will feed him for the first time...for real.
#6: They are off humidity and so they are actually wearing premie baby clothes.
#7: Those premie baby clothes nearly fit them!
#8: The moved out of the NICU today and to the Special Care. This means that they are well enough to not need to have the Neonatologist near their bed.
#9: Their new 'home' in the Special Care is just below a window that has blinds we can possibly open and let a few people have a peek at them.
#10: The nurse tonight was chill enough to let us hold for longer than the 30 minutes. Some of the nurses aren't so chill...so we were grateful for every minute of our 60 minute plus hold.

Dad's first time seeing Ethan and Sydney in their new home.

Sydney was looking at her dad for about 10 minutes...it was so sweet.

Their new home with smaller monitors, less cords, and more space. They are in one big open room (that used to be the well baby nursery) with 3 other babies. It's a little louder than they're used to, but I hope they'll adjust and then be better sleepers because of this.

In order for the babies to come home, they have to do the following 4 things:
1. Be able to feed from me or a bottle for all feedings.
2. Maintain normal temperature in an open crib.
3. Gain weight for two to three days from all feedings (not tube feedings).
4. Be free of any breathing problems.

Another milestone! Congratulations to all four of you. They are both so adorable, and we continue to pray for more progress every day. We will see you tonight if that works for you all.

So by my calculations (thanks to google for the conversion table) Ethan has gained almost 2 ounces and Miss Sydney has gained not quite 1/2 ounce. Way to go kids!
Love you both, Grandma Joy
