We can't believe that our babies are 2 weeks old...but at the same time, we can. It's been a long yet short two weeks. We love Saturdays because we're able to spend more time with them. Sydney pulled out her feeding tube (again) this morning, so we got a glimpse of her without any tubes or tape on her face! The little things that thrill us...

Miss Sydney gained 70 grams and is now above her birth weight at 1670 grams or 3 lbs 11 oz. Ethan is up 40 grams to 1740 grams or 3 lbs and nearly 13 oz. They are both now above their birth weights--woo hoo! They are both up a little on their feedings, but not much. Ethan is at 35 cc and Sydney 34 cc--both over 1 oz (30 cc).
They had their first window visitors today--my grandparents, and my sisters Katie, and Michelle and niece Emmeli came to see them. My parents were there as well, but they've seen them a lot.
They were wide awake together for their 1 pm feeding. It was so fun to watch them suck on their binkies. They get "readiness scores" prior to feeding where the nurse evaluates if they are ready to eat--rooting, sucking on a binki, alert, etc. A 1 is the highest and 4 means they are basically asleep. If they don't have a 1 or a 2, we leave them sleeping and don't try any non-nutritive feeding. It's also a sign that they are getting more mature when they are awake at feeding time. After feeding, the nurse positioned them like this--it was so sweet.
Sydney was so excited to eat at 1pm today that she was licking her brother's head and then started rooting. The nurse said that Ethan did the same thing last night. So cute.
I practiced feeding them both at the same time again tonight. It's quite the circus act--but they look at each other a lot and Doug and I get a kick out of watching them. We will meet with the occupational therapist, Annie, next Tuesday and she will most likely evaluate the babies to see if they are ready for some nutritive feedings. After they start those, we're told their weight will take off and they'll progress fast. We're excited to see what happens...
